He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on 20th November 1983. He joined the Dungeon Family, a musical collective where he was nicknamed the Future. He joined the team of A1 recordings under the wing of Rocko, a fellow rapper from Atlanta.

Future was once arrested for theft in 2004. He has six children, each child was born to a different woman. He was engaged to singer Ciara and they had a son, Future Zahir Wilburn. Due to Future’s infidelity, Ciara broke up their engagement in August 2014.
He was sued by both Ciara and Jessica Smith. Ciara sued him for slander, defamation, and libel. On the other hand, Smith sued him for not paying child support. She stated that their son suffered from behavioral issues and had emotional issues due to Future’s absence as a father.
