Future is an American music artist, record producer, rapper, singer, and songwriter. His actual name is Navyadius DeMun Wilburn. But, he is popularly known by his stage name “Future”. Early Life

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia on 20th November 1983. He joined the Dungeon Family, a musical collective where he was nicknamed the Future. His first cousin insisted to improve his writing skills and advised him to become a rapper. He went to Columbia high school. He joined the team of A1 recordings under the wing of Rocko, a fellow rapper from Atlanta.


His music career started in early 2011 where he released his mixtapes. These included Dirty Sprite, 1000, and true story. At that time, he also collaborated with Gucci Mane, a rapper with whom he worked on the Free Bricks album. He also Co-wrote for YC’s single “Racks”. He was also featured in it.

His songs were frequently played at Magic City which is a strip club in Atlanta. Magic City is considered as one of those clubs which is responsible for launching the artist’s carrier. Playing his songs at Magic City by DJ Esco got him popular.

Later, he released another mixtape, Streetz Calling. After Streetz Calling, he made another mixtape called Astronaut Status. He was featured in the magazine, The FADER in December 2011.

He made his debut album Pluto, which includes the remix of Drake’s Tony Montana, T.I’s magic. This album also has other collaborators which include Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly, Trae Tha Truth. In 2012, Future was featured on “Loveeeeeee Song” which is Rihanna’s song from the album Unapologetic. He was also the writer and producer of that song.

Later, he released a compilation mixtape “F.B.G.: The Movie” on January 15, 2013, which features Slice9, Young Scooter, Maceo, Casino, and Mexico Rann. These are the artists who signed to Future’s Freebandz label. That mixtape compilation has over 250,000 downloads on the site DatPiff, a popular mixtape site.

This compilation mixtape has got platinum-certified. He released his second album, “Future Hendrix” in 2013. It features Kelly Rowland, Kanye West, Diplo, Ciara, André 3000, Rihanna, Drake, and others.In September 2015, he released a collaborated mixtape called “what a time to be alive” with another rapper Drake. This album went top on the charts. It debuted at position number one on Billboard 200, billboard hot rap songs, and Billboard R&B charts.

Doing this, he produced two top charted albums in a single year. He is one of the very few rappers to achieve this feat. This mixtape has sold over 335,000 copies in the US. Later, he released his fourth album, EVOL on the radio show “We The Best”.

He announced his fifth album on 2017 Valentine’s day via Instagram. It was released on February 17 and exactly a week later, he released his sixth album, Hndrxx. Both of these albums hit number 1 on Billboard 200. He became the first artist to have both of his albums at number one on Canadian albums chart and Billboard 200.

Then, he collaborated with James black, Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar for “King’s dead” song which is from the soundtrack of Marvel Studios film Black Panther. He also worked with Jay Rock for the album Redemption. This song nominated for two categories in the Grammys. In October 2018, he released “Wrld On Drugs” which is a collaborative mixtape with Juice Wrld. He released his 7th album, “Future Hndrxx Presents: The Wizrd” on January 18, 2019. This album consisted of 20 songs.

Future won his first Grammy Award for best rap performance to his collaborative work in the song “King’s dead”. Later he released few albums which includes “Life is good” which is 8th studio album. Later, he changed this title to High Off Life.

Future collaborated with Lil Uzi Vert and released Pluto x Baby Pluto on November 13, 2020. It reached its peak at  number 2 in US billboard 200. He was nominated for various awards and won some of them too.

He performed in tours too. He performed with Drake in his first tour in 2016 which is named as Summer Sixteen tour. The second tour was performed with Meek Mill in 2019 which is named as Legendary Nights tour.

Personal Life

Future was once arrested for theft in 2004. He has six children, each child was born to a different woman. He was engaged to singer Ciara and they had a son, Future Zahir Wilburn. Due to Future’s infidelity, Ciara broke up their engagement in August 2014.

He was sued by both Ciara and Jessica Smith. Ciara sued him for slander, defamation, and libel. On the other hand, Smith sued him for not paying child support. She stated that their son suffered from behavioral issues and had emotional issues due to Future’s absence as a father.
